The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea became a member of the United Nations in September 1991. Ambassador Ja Song Nam is the current Permanent Representative of the DPRK to the United Nations, New York. He presented his credentials to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on February 28, 2014.
